Curfew violator jumps into river

Imphal: One curfew violator who jumped into the Imphal River when one police patrol car came to caution the people to remain inside along KR Lane, Imphal East district on Sunday.

A combined team was on search of the person in the river. He was still missing till the filing of this report.

The person was identified as Md Fariz Khan, 26, son of Md Islammudin of Sangaiyumpham presently staying at a rent at KR Lane, Imphal East.

Fariz was playing football at KR Lane ground, Imphal East. When a police patrol car came to caution the people to remain inside, Fariz jump into the river, police said.

To avoid the spread of Covid-19 and as precautionary measures, state government has been imposing curfew in the state.

At about 6 pm at Porompat police station got a report of regarding the person drowned at Imphal River.

A combine team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), state fire service personnel and Imphal East district police were on search of Fariz.

Due to rainfall the combined team were facing problem in the search.
