Manipur celebrates Hockey victory for Bronze


Imphal: Manipur people celebrated the victory of the India Men’s Hockey Team against Germany team in the Bronze medal match played on Thursday in the Tokyo Olympics.People of Manipur, family and friends, and locality of Shanglakpam Nilakanta Sharma, who played in team India as midfielder, celebrated as India win Bronze medal.

Nilakanta is the son of Sh. Inaocha and Kunjarani of Kontha Ahallup Makha Leikai in Imphal East.

“Such a resounding victory for India’s Men Hockey team at Tokyo today. Congratulations to our Men in Blue on winning the bronze medal and this historic win will go down in history. The country is really proud of you today,” Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh writes on his Facebook wall.

India beat Germany 5-4 in the Bronze medal match.

It was a history created after 1980 Olympics to bag a medal in the Olympics.
