Imphal: Peace and Development Co-Ordinating Committee (PDCC) drew the attention of chief minister N. Biren Singh to investigate through CBI allegedly over the failure of Dolaithabi barrage project to benifit people.

The committee demanded to punish the officials for the failure.

PDCC secretary Th. Hemsingh told reporters at Dolaithabi barrage site at Yumnam Khunou, Imphal that due to incomplete construction of the cannel people of the area are not able to get the benefit of the project.

People of the area have been waiting for the completion of Dolaithabi barrage project. The project has been inaugurated however due to incomplete construction of its cannel at Yumnam Khunou area people are not able to get its benefits. Farmers of left and right cannel had sacrificed their paddy fields with the hope that the cannel would provide proper irrigation and they could produce more yields, he added.

The construction of Dolaithabi barrage project started about 30 years ago and after the inauguration of the cannel people especially from Esingthembi to Waiton are not getting its benefits, he added.
