Imphal: A 3-day Jan Ashirvad Yatra reached Manipur on Tuesday as a part of nation wide campaign for the new ministers of the Modi government to reach out to the people.
Union minister for external affairs and education RK Ranjan kick started the yatra at Dimapur, Nagaland on Monday and crossed Mao gate (Manipur-Nagaland border) on Tuesday morning.
From Dimapur he was sent off by Nagaland education minister Temjen Imna till Mao gate.
A team led by state president Bharatiya Janata Party A. Sharda along with Senapati superintendent of police, and other district administrative staff received the Union minister at Mao gate.
Mao council and Song Song village organised a reception programme at Mao bus parking.
Ranjan said giving priority for the development of Northeast states of the country Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government inducted five Union cabinet ministers from the Northeast. Under the instruction of Prime Minster the Union ministers were told to take blessing from the people of their respective states under ‘Jan Ashirvad Yatra’ by meeting the people personally by road.
During the yatra, he said, he will meet the people individually and will get be given awareness on how to bring development for the state.
After he returned to Delhi he will organised a brain storming session with resident commissioners of north eastern state deputed at Delhi. During the session he will discuss on how to connect with the East Asian countries in order to bring economic growth, he added.
People of Makhan village, later, received the minister at the village and sent off till autonomous district council office, Senapati.
Ranjan, Sharda and agriculture minister O. Lukhoi continued the yatra in an opened vehicle led by a group of bikers.
On the way Ranjan and his companions paid floral tribute to the portrait of Chirai Thangal at Mayangkhang village, Senapati district.
MLA Nemcha Kipgen also felicitated the minister. Ranjan visited the Covid vaccination centre of Kangpokpi.
Chief minister N. Biren Singh received the yatra at Kanglatongbi and the yatra continued till chief minister’s secretariat office, Babupara to conclude for the first day.
The ‘Jan Aashirwad Yatra’ of the newly-inducted Union ministers across the country will see 39 ministers, who joined the Modi Cabinet in the last month’s reshuffle, holding massive rallies.
The yatra aims to cover 19,567 km and pass through 22 states. The rally will cover 265 districts in 212 Lok Sabha seats.
