IED attack near Indo-Myanmar border foiled

Imphal: ​In a major breakthrough, Chassad Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled an attempt to target security forces by detecting and recovering three improvised explosive devices (IED) and other explosive materials near Indo-Myanmar Border on Tuesday.

​Based on credible input regarding movement of insurgents, a search operation was launced by Assam Rifles troops near Indo-Myanmar border. During the operation the troops detected and recovered the IEDs along with some explosive sticks, detonators and safety fuzes, the Assam Rifles said.

The recovered IEDs and other explosive material were handed over to Kamjong Police for further legal action, it added.
