Imphal: Assam Rifles battalions of Churachandpur Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised volleyball and football matches in villages of CCPur and Noney districts to commemorate National Sports Day on Sunday.
Various local volleyball and football clubs participated in the sports events organised to mark the birth anniversary of ‘Hockey Wizard’ Major Dhyan Chand.
The aim of these matches was to highlight the importance of sports in developing personality, temperament and discipline. The friendly volleyball and football matches saw the participating teams displaying spirit of friendship and sportsmanship.
The players were elated and expressed their gratitude towards Assam Rifles for organising such an event which not only gives them a chance to showcase their talent but also is a great step in developing friendly relations with the people.
