Electricity pre-paid counter, divisional offices shut down

Imphal: JAC of Manipur Electricity Employees’ Union (MEEU), Power Engineers Services Association (PESA) and MSPDCL Officers Association (MOA) continuing it agitation shut down pre-paid counters and divisional offices on Thursday.

The employees have been on strike demanding implementation of 7th revision of pay, 2019.

Agitators confronted with police when they tried to shut down its corporate office, Keishampat.

They locked down the pre-paid counter other divisional offices. The movement of locking divisional office also conducted at various districts of the state in addition to sit-ins.

Co-convenor of the JAC, Soram Sunnyboy said the employees have been pressing for their demand for a long time. In continuation of the movement non-maintenance of power outrage will be started from Friday. The sit-ins will be continued in front of power house, Keishampat and the mobile maintenance team will not cooperate with any complaint regarding power outrage maintenance at any place, he added.

For the sake of public amid pandemic, maintenance of major health sector shall not be affected, he said.

He said employees of other departments were advised not to go at offices during the time of pandemic however, employees of power department have been discharging their duty whether before pandemic or during pandemic.

No positive response has been made from the government regarding the demand till date. The agitation will continue till the 7th pay revision is implemented for the employees in the power department.
