Imphal: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has refuted the education minister Sorokhaibam Rajen’s statement that the Congress did not take up any project for Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency during its governance.
Manipur PCC vice president Ratankumar said the statement made by the education minister at Mayang Imphal play ground during inauguration of Agro Market Complex on September 8 is totally wrong.
Education minister made some wrong statements in connection with certain projects that has been taken up a Mayang Imphal and he said such statement by the education minister can mislead the people, he added.
Ratankumar claimed that most of the projects that are presently taken up and are undergoing at Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency were sanctioned and initiated under the Congress government during 2007 to 2017.
The Agro Market inaugurated by the minister was proposed and recommended by the then chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh during 2014-15 financial year during the Congress regime. The project was put up to the North Eastern Council and it was sanctioned in the year 2016, Ratankumar said.
The Congress government could not take up the project as the tender process could not be completed due to the Assembly Election, 2017, he added.
Ratan said the district hospital in Mayang Imphal was started during the congress regime while adding that foundation stone laying of DIET centre at Mayang Imphal was also completed before 2017.
DIET centre was shifted to Mayang Imphal from DM college campus after information were received at that time that DM University was about to be established at DM campus. Previous government may be replaced by another party who formed the government. However, the government policy is a continuous process he added.
The education minister must not take the people of Mayang imphal as fools and ignorant, he said.
Rajen must declare it openly if he have any intention to shift the DIET centre to his constituency, he added.
Ratankumar also appealed to the MLA of Mayang Imphal Constituency to make sure that the DIET centre is not shifted from his constituency if he really cares for the Constituency.
