No parking on both sides of 2 RIMS roads

Imphal: In view of huge traffic congestions due to parking on both sides of RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences) road in Imphal city Imphal West deputy commissioner Th. Kirankumar has issued an order on Monday to park vehicles on only one side of the road.

The order said it has come to the notice that due to huge traffic congestions mostly because of parking of vehicles on both sides of RIMS Road (Nagamapal junction to RIMS junction) and Canteen Road (Uripok Junction to RIMS Junction) the travel time to hospital for Ambulances, doctors, patient parties, and other persons on emergency services has been greatly affected and golden hour for saving lives is to be compromised.

It is also well known that the two roads are used for emergency services 24X7 for movement to various hospitals including RIMS, Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt Ltd., Langol View Charitable Clinic and Maternity Home, Suba Hospital and Assisted Reproductive Centre, Sky Hospital and Research Centre, Imphal Hospital and Research Centre, etc., it added.

Besides parking restrictions the order said no function or programme of any kind blocking partially or fully to disturb the traffic flow shall be held along these roads.

No earmarking of space in front of any establishments along the roads shall be allowed leading to blocking and narrowing of road width thereby affecting the traffic movement, it added.

The terms and conditions shall come into force in the larger interest of the general public with immediate effect from Wednesday and until further orders.
