Imphal: Imphal West Police of Manipur has arrested a self-styled captain of proscribed group PREPAK and his wife after a hand grenade was placed on the table of the manager of KBS, Agro Industries, Eeshing, Makoi Langjing Ching Maning.
The self-styled captain was identified as Moirangthem Mohen alias Manao alias Pari, 42, son of late M. Nirnai Singh of Sagolband Tera Sayang Leirak and the name of his wife was Sarda Devi.
On receiving an information of the lobbing a bomb at the Agro Industries, Eeshing at about 2 pm of Wednesday a team of Imphal West District Police rushed to the spot and enquired and collected inputs. Based on the available inputs, they have conducted extensive searched at the suspected nearby area and finally, the accused person was picked up, superintendent of police S. Ibomcha said.
From the disclosure of Mohen the police could recover one Explosive suspected to be TNT with fitted deonator, Battery Trontek 6V 5.0 AH. He disclosed that he has been working directly under one self-styled Lt. Col. Ningombam Premkumar alias Prem alias Tamocha alias Aheiba Angom, self-styled acting chairman cum general secretary of the banned UG organisation. As he instructed, he placed the grenade at the office of KBS, Agro Industries, Eeshing for monetary demand. Aheiba Angom also handed over one IED explosive set with the instruction to attack the security forces, he added.
Sarda has been arrested for involving in hiding the IED and planning the placing of the grenade.
The police recovered one unexploded handgrenade, suspected to be Chinese handgrenade; explosive suspected to be TNT with fitted deonator; battery Trontek 6V 5.0 AH; Sony digital camera 14.1 mg (black in colour); one remote with battery (Mark as HW) 6F22-9V 6; one wrist watch marked as JCB, two Adhaar cards; two mobile phones; one ID card in the Moirangthem Manao Singh also written as `Govt. of Assam’ certificate of Surender’; one Airtel Sim having SIM; and one Honda Dio, carbon black in colour having no registration number.
