Imphal: A team of NAB Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), Manipur apprehended four persons from Singjamei Yumnam Leikai along Indo-Myanmar road, on Wednesday afternoon.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohd. Anish Khan, 32, son of late Md. Nurul Haque of Lilong Ushoipokpi Bazar near Oil Pump, Thoubal district, Md. Sabir Ahamed, 27, son of Samim Ahamed of Lilong Ayangbi Leikai, Thoubal, Md. Sahidur Rahaman, 29, son of Md. Samidur Rahaman of Lilong Ushoipokpi Makha near Powerhouse, Thoubal and Nm. Zakariya,19, son of Nm. Mv. Abdul Jalil of Lilong Ipham.
About 20 Kg of suspected Brown Sugar along with one Tata truck bearing registration number AS01JC/4897, one registration certificate, one driving licence and one mobile handset and a sum of Rs 3000 from the possession of the Anish Khan.
Two mobile handsets, one wallet containing a sum of Rs 2000 and one Aadhaar card were seized from the possession of Sabir Ahamed.
A total of 35 soap cases containing about 437.5 grams of suspected Heroin powder along with another Tata truck bearing registration number AS11AC/7732, one Aadhaar card, a sum of Rs 500 and one mobile handset were also seized from the possession of Zakaria.
Ome PAN card, a sum of Rs 4,500 and one mobile handset were also seized from the possession of Wahidur Rahaman.
A case is registered at NAB-PS.
Preliminary investigation reveals that they have been involved in illicit trafficking of drugs for few years and the seized drugs were carried for transporting and selling in outside state. Further investigation is going on and some inter state link is established.
