Imphal: Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinfam Amadi Saktam Kanba Lup, organisation of vendors at Khwairamband Ima Keithel (women market) of Imphal, Manipur has decided to reopen the markets at Khwairamband Ima Keithel on Monday (September 27).
As the government has issued an order allowing to reopen the women markets and in view of financial constraint of vendors who have not been earning for a long period the vendor organisation has decided to reopen the market, secretary of the organisation Thingujam Rani said on Thursday.
The constituent markets of Ima Keithel–the three Ima Keithel markets and Temporary Market were shut down for the first time on March 21, 2020 in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was reopened on February 15 and have been shut down since April 21 with rising Covid-19 cases.
Manipur government on Tuesday issued an order relaxing certain restrictions, which allows to reopen the market on the next day.
The vendors body in a meeting took a resolution to conduct cleaning of the market areas on Saturday as preparation for the market reopening.
It appealed the vendors, IMC and those who take care of vending materials in the market to take part in the cleaning service.
