JNIMS launches Training and Sensitization of Stakeholders on Child Sexual Abuse

Imphal: Director of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science (JNIMS), Porompat, professor Deben Singh Laishram on Friday launched Training and Sensitization of Stakeholders on Child Sexual Abuse project at the administrative block of JNIMS, Imphal East.

The programme was organised by department of psychiatry, JNIMS in partnership with department of justice, ministry of law and justice.

Launching of such project is much necessary in the state. Many children in the state also are abused sexually, mentally and physically and to avoid this such training and sensitization on child sexual abuse is much necessary, Deben said.

To spread the message to avoid child abuse media are also taking a vital role. Severe punishment need to be given against the accused of child abuse so that not to repeat such activity, he added.

People are aware the POCSO Act however, the training and sensitization programme will aware the people on how to prevent against the happening of such crime, Deben said.

The training and sensitization programme will be conducted at 16 districts of the state.
