Manipur pays tribute to Irawat

Imphal: Manipur paid rich tributes to Jana Neta Hijam Irawat on his 125th birth anniversary on Thursday.

The state level observation was held at Irawat Square, Thangmeiband Lilashing Khongnangkhong with chief minister N. Biren Singh leading his Cabinet ministers, MLAs, officials and general public in offering floral tributes to the statue of the late leader.

Irawat could lead a luxurious life as he belonged to a respectable and well-to-do family. However, he left everything and decided to work at the grassroots for the needy and downtrodden people, Biren said.
