World War II bomb kills 2 at Moreh

Imphal: Two persons were killed at Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh in Tengnoupal district of Manipur when a World War II bomb exploded.

The victims were brothers. They were Lalsangmuon Gangte, 23, and Lenkhogin Gangte, 21. Both were sons of late Thangminlen Gangte and late Lhingneineilam Gangte of Gangte Veng, Moreh Ward No. 9.

The bomb exploded at around 4 pm on Wednesday at the backyard of their residence when they accidentally hit the bomb with a spade.

On November 17 last year, 122 World War II bombs were found at the village during land levelling for house construction.
