Congress observer gears up election strategy

Imphal: There is a need to preserve and to protect the society of Manipur and only Congress can do that, former Union minister and All Indian Congress Committee poll observer for Manipur Jairam Ramesh said on Friday.

The ideology of the Congress party is to unite while that of BJP is to divide, Jairam said.

Jairam Ramesh was speaking at a one day booth level workers conference held at Uchiwa Kabui Khul on Friday.

He visited Imphal for the second time in two months as a part of the upcoming state Assembly election. He will be staying in the state for five days.

He was accorded a warm welcome by a team of Manipur PCC led by working president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee I. Hemochandra.

Jairam said the Congress party wants to protect Manipur however the BJP wants Manipur to be controlled from Nagpur.

He claimed that there will soon be a Congress government in Manipur, Ramesh said.

Kangla was under the control of Delhi till 2004. However, the then Congress government handed it over to the people of Manipur, he added.
