Power employees caution to resume non-maintenance of power outages strike


Imphal: The employees of power sector under the umbrella of Manipur Electricity Employees’ Union (MEEU) and Joint Action Committee (JAC) has cautioned the state government that it will resume its “Non-Maintenance of Power Outages Strike” if the government fails to issue order of implementation of 7th Pay.

The ultimatum was served on Friday.

MEEU publicity secretary Sanjeet Takhelmayum said the government of Manipur in its Cabinet meeting held on September 4 had approved the implementation of 7th Manipur Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2019 to the employees of MSPCL and MSPDCL including employees of electricity department, Manipur who are on deputation to MSPCL and MSPDCL.

The government of Manipur has not issued the order of implementation of 7th Pay (ROP-2019) till date, he added.

If the government fails to issue the order of implementation of 7th Pay (ROP-2019) on or before October 5, MEEU and JAC will resume the “Non Maintenance of Power Outages Strike” on October 6, he said.
