Covid frontline workers praised

Imphal: Churachandpur health department on Wednesday organized day of recognition to frontline health care workers on covid-19 management during the pandemic, at Synod Hall, I.B. Road, Churachandpur.

The recognition day was organized in presence of tribal affairs minister VungzaginValte, ADC Khaikhopau Ngaihte and district CMO Dr. Vumchinpau Tonsing.

Recognizing the risk and hardships the frontline workers encounter, the minister said the health workers and frontline workers are taking on significant personal risk, sometimes without adequate equipment to ensure all of us can received the best care and support we need.

Terming the workers as ‘beautiful, dutiful and mighty warriors’ the minister expressed his sincere appreciation for their works in hospitals, clinics, homes and everywhere. “The tireless, dedicated but often undervalued role of frontline workers, caring for those who are most vulnerable, are keeping us safe despite the hardships and health risks” he added.

As per the District Surveillance unit, IDSP/Churachandpur, the district has a total number of 10,087 Covid-19 positive cases out of which 281 are health care workers and 1037 are from frontline (security) workers. A total number of 9840 recovered from the virus whereas 177 persons succumbed to Covid-19 related complications.

A total 521 frontline workers and two NGOs were honoured with certificate of appreciation and a gift.

DLOs from different departments, doctors, nurses, AWWs and health care workers took part in the event.
