Assam Rifles foils cross border narcotic trafficking

Imphal: ​Chandel Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR(S) foiled cross-border narcotic trafficking near the Indo-Myanmar Border in Chandel District on Wednesday.

​Based on credible inputs regarding narcotics trafficking, troops of Assam Rifles launched a search operation wherein 5.2 kg of Heroin was recovered from the jungles near Gamphazol village, the Assam Rifles said.

The recovered narcotics were assessed to be worth approximately Rs 21 crore, it added.

The seized narcotics were handed over to Narcotics Control Bureau, Imphal for further legal action.
