Imphal: Violation of traffic rules will be monitored strictly especially in Imphal area in order to avoid traffic congestion, superintendent of police, traffic, Kakchingtabam Ajitkumar Sharma cautioned.
“Security forces will also be taken same action like civilian as traffic rules is mandatory for all,” Ajitkumar said.
Traffic Police will conduct frequent drives against traffic rules violators and necessary action will be taken as per law, he told reporters here on Wednesday.
With the development and widening of roads rush driving has been increased especially by the youths which resulted to increasing road mishaps.
Ajitkumar said with the lack of cooperation from the commuters with the traffic police, road congestion and unwanted incident on road occurs. The commuters should obey traffic rules strictly and should avoid the habit of being impatient while wating for traffic signal in the case of larger volume of vehicles at traffic points, he added.
Strict action will be taken against traffic violators including for the case of driving without helmet, driving without wearing seatbelt, driving without license, underage driving and others, the officer said.
He appealed the parents and guardians not to encourage their underaged wards to drive.
Footpath are for pedestrians. Selling of products or encroaching of footpath for personal purpose should be avoided immediately, he said.
He said traffic rules are same and following the rules are mandatory for all citizen including security forces and para military forces.
The illegal parking along the stretch of RIMS road, Nagamapal road, Babupara and other main roads will be monitored, Ajitkumar said.
