People respond to Covid Vaccination Express

Imphal: Covid Vaccination Express for Imphal West has been taking up mobile vaccination since it was launched on October 11.

Fifteen vans, equipped with all required facilities and trained staff were dispatched under the programme to cover different places of Imphal West district.

One of the vehicles was found giving vaccination to people at Hiyangthang market junction on Friday.

“The respond of the people so far is good. Our team is able to vaccinate at the average of 100 person per day,” Komuni Kape, a nurse in the team told Pothashang.

Sometimes about 200 persons are vaccinated in a day, she added.

Two nurses and two data entry officers are engaged in the team, she said.

The vaccination initiative was taken to facilitate doorstep inoculation of Covid Vaccine.

The programme was taken up by state health department in a joint initiative with CARE India to fortify the vaccination rollout in the state.

Chief minister N. Biren Singh urged the public to voluntarily come out and get vaccinated and also refrain from any false information regarding the effect of vaccine.

He had appealed to the local clubs and social organisations to support the vaccination programme by giving information to the locals who have not vaccinated and encourage them to get vaccinated soon.

The cumulative number of 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccination has achieved 88. 82 percent and that of 2nd dose has achieved 52.64 percent as on Wednesday.
