Imphal: The latest music composition of the Rhythms of Manipur for the year 2021-22 entitled Surgee Leichal was premiered on Thursday at Manipuri Jagoi Marup Goldeen Jubilee stage.
The 45 minutes long music composition was designed and composed by Laishram Milanjeet and Irom Robert Singh. Altogether sixteenth musicians including two ladies musicians involved in the composition.
The music compostion incorporated various music forms of the state besides some semi Indian classical music pieces.
Musical instruments such as Pena, Dhollok, Meitei Pung, Flute, Yangkaihui, Gong, Bamboo Drum, Kartar, Violin, Sitar were used in the composition.
Noted writer and member of the Programme Committee North East Zone Cultural Centre Dimapur, Saratchand Thiyam and president of the Cultural Workers and Activists Forum, Buddha Chingtham were graced as chief guest and president respectively at the premiered function of the music.
Both praised the initiative taken up by Rhythms of Manipur in spite of Corona pandemic.
Rhythms of Manipur has been working for the enrichment of rich Manipuri culture and tradition for the last 35 years, Saratchand said. All should protect and promote the cultural heritage in the days and years to come, he added.
Buddha stressed on the need to restart cultural activities as done by the Rhythms of Manipur with the new composition .
