Assam Rifles outreaches 1971 Indo-Pak war veterans

Imphal: ​Churachandpur battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) in continuation of its outreach program to connect and assist the military veterans, on Saturday reached out to assist Sepoy Letkholal (Retd) of 5 Assam.

Hailing from Lingsiphai village in Churachandpur, Manipur, Sepoy Letkholal (Retd) is a veteran of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War who saw action in the Battle of Chhamb on the Western Front.

​Sepoy Letkholal was facing financial difficulties due his advanced age of 81 years and three daughters staying in far away villages post marriage.

​Assam Rifles reached out to the war veteran and extended assistance both financial and resource.

​The elderly couple were overwhelmed by the response and expressed their joy and gratitude towards the security forces for acknowledging the contribution and sacrifices made by him in service of the nation.
