Manipur governor rejoices on receiving Padma awards by four Manipur personalities

Imphal: Manipur governor La Ganeshan has expressed his happiness as four eminent personalities of Manipur were honoured Padma awards on Monday.
The four eminent personalities were boxer Mary Kom, footballer Oinam Bembem, traditional bridal wear designer Hanjabam Radhe Devi and folk musician Guru Rewben Mashangva.

Ganeshan on behalf of the people of Manipur and on his behalf conveyed best wishes to keep up their good work and earn many more laurels in their future career.

President Ram Nath Kovind presented the prestigious civilian award at ceremonies held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for their exceptional service to the nation.

They were honoured in the presence of Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah among others.
Pugilist Mary Kom was awarded Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award.

“It was a great honour to have received the Padma Vibhushan Award from Hon’ble President of India,” Mary Kom writes on her Facebook wall.

Footballer Oinam Bembem, traditional bridal wear designer Hanjabam Radhe Devi and folk musician Guru Rewben Mashangva were honoured with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award.

There were two Padma awards ceremonies for the years 2020 and 2021 held in the morning and evening. The Padma awards given away were seven Padma Vibhushan, 16 Padma Bhushan and 122 Padma Shri awards.

The Padma awards are announced annually on the eve of Republic Day.
