Imphal: An office of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) sponsored Money Wise-Centre for Financial Literacy (CFL) of Lamshang block in Imphal West was inaugurated at Awang Sekmai Bazaar on Tuesday to provide awareness on financial literacy and to reach the unreachable.
The office was inaugurated by regional director, RBI, Guwahati, Sanjeev Singha.
Regional manager (north east zone-II), CRISIL foundation, Abhishek Mazumdar said the office was inaugurated to provide awareness on financial literacy regarding the various financial schemes provided by the government.
Two such offices of CFL has already inaugurated at Senapati and Chandel districts and another eight offices will be opening in eight other districts by November end with support from respective sponsored banks and stakeholders, he added.
With the support of RBI, CRISIL foundation launched CFL project in 2017 with an objective to strengthen the financial inclusion levels of the rural population, he said.
In the northeast region CRISIL foundation will be implementing the project in seven states–Assam, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim and Manipur with 100 CFL offices covering a total of 298 blocks and 80 districts, he added.
State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) coordinator Manipur, SBI, Hubert SZ Khobung; Lead District Manager (LDM), HH Poumai; deputy general manager, financial inclusion development department (FIDD), RBI, Guwahati, Sila Ditya Biswas; deputy general manager, RBI, Imphal, T Lhungdim were present at the inaugural function.
