Imphal: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MLA Karam Shyam has joined Bharatiya Janata Party at its state head office, Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal on Thursday.
Chief minister N. Biren Singh, during a felicitation ceremony held at Chajing Mairenkhong ground, said in the last four and half years the political scenario in Manipur has been changing with the starting of involvement of youths. Before the coming of the BJP led coalition government there were least involvement of youths in politics and due to the reason less number of dynamic representatives were elected in most of the Assembly constituencies, he added.
Before criticising the government, any individual should know the government, he said.
Union home minister recently announced to rename ‘Mount Harriet’ to ‘Mount Manipur’. He took the decision after considering the contributions made by the freedom fighters of Manipur including the then king of Manipur, Maharaja Kulachandra who was exiled to Mount Harriet along with 22 others by the then colonial rule during Anglo-Manipur War of 1891, the chief minister said.
To repay the initiatives of Modi led central government, people of the state should elect BJP candidates in the entire 60 seats in the coming Manipur Legislative Assembly election, he added.
Intending candidate of Langthabal Assembly Constituency, Karam Shyam said during his tenure of being local MLA, various developmental works had been taken up. However, due to lack of quality control during road construction, some of the roads in the Assembly Constituency are damaged frequently. If the people re-elect him he will give priority to give better road connectivity along with drinking tap water, he added.
He said he joins BJP to serve the people better under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
