IED found

Imphal: An improvised explosive device (IED)was found near the gate of one Aribam Sashikumar Sharma, 49, son of late A. Chitreshore Sharma of Khongman Zone-I, Imphal East on Monday.

The state police received the information at 8 am that one suspected IED wrapped with a black polythene was found near the gate of Sashikumar.

On receipt of the information police team of Irilbung Police station rushed to the spot. The state bomb detection and disposal squad was informed and defused the bomb at the spot at 9:20 am.

On checking, one digital watch connected with two 9-volt battery alongwith one tiffin container was found. One special detonator, geletine (500 gm approximately) and splinters were found inside the tiffin container, police said.

The IED was taken to Awa Ching, Keirao. The bomb detection and disposal squad team disposed at 10:10 am.
