Imphal: One grenade found at the bank of a community pond of Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak, Imphal West opposite to Salai office branch which on Sunday.
Some locals reportedly found the grenade when trying to fetch water from the community pond at about 10 am. The spot where the grenade was recovered is the place where various Salai investors used to gather to conduct agitation demanding to refund their invested money.
A team of Lamphel police station along with a team of bomb squad rushed to the spot and recovered the grenade at about 1.30 pm.
According to police the bomb was a Chinese made grenade. Lever and safety pin of the grenade were found intact, however the detonator was missing. The police team disposed the grenade at dumping site of Lamphel at about 2 pm.
