Imphal: Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) has complained that it found schools not following Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) during its mission to check on functioning of schools after educational institutions in Manipur were re-opened on November 10.
A team of MSF led by its general secretary Hijam Roshan visited schools at Kwakeithel in Imphal West on Wednesday to check for SOP maintenance.
“Two schools–Regular School and RM School were found not properly maintaining SOP,” Roshan said.
The government advised to maintain SOP guidelines. However, the establishment and functioning of district level task force as mentioned in the government order should be made practical immediately, he said.
Classes in schools, colleges and other educational institutions had been shutdown in Manipur since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the nation in March 2020.
The student welcomes the state government decision of re-opening of educational institutions in the state, Roshan said.
MSF demanded the government to immediately set up free Covid Care centres and provide free Covid testing facilities in all districts for teachers, non-teaching staff and students.
It also demanded to provide 3-4 Ambulance in every district to make convenience when teachers or students get sick.
Everyone has been affected for more than one and half year by the pandemic. As the educational institutions are re-opened amid the woes, the government should follow random testing when RT-PCR test is conducted for every 20 days, the student leader said.
District committees of MSF will start checking schools in connection with the re-opening of educational institutions on Thursday.
