300 e-Shram cards distributed at Keshtrigao


Imphal: To provide more welfare schemes for workers and public with Rs 2 lakh health insurance, 300 e-Shram cards were distributed to people of Keshtrigao Assembly Constituency in a function held at Kongba Laishram Leikai, Imphal East on Thursday.

The one-day distribution ceremony was organised by Kongba Laishram Leikai Youth Club.

Minister of state for education and external affairs, RK Ranjan said the card will provide various benefits including Rs 2 lakh health insurance especially for the unorganised sector workers or seasonal workers.

With the motive to provide benefits to the needy people of the country and to improve the implementation efficiency of the social security services for the unorganised workers e-Shram portal was launched under the initiative of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

About 75 percent of Indian population are farmers and unorganised workers, who are not even able to enjoy the rights implemented by International Labour Law (ILO). Since India’s independence other political parties have been neglecting the rights for the unorganised workers, Ranjan said.

He appealed the people to register at the portal in order to get benefits from the government.
