Imphal: Manipur home department need to take strict precautionary measures to lessen hit and run cases especially during the night hours, MLA Kh. Joykisan said as he visited sports journalist Yenshembam Samarjit, a victim of hit and run case.
Joykisan extended monetary assistance to the journalist of Ichel Express and wished him for quick recovery.
Samarjit received leg injury during a hit and run case occurred on September 12 evening near Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai along Mayai Lambi road, Imphal West. He was hit by a white colour Bolero when he was returning home from his office.
Samarjit is a resident of Jaganath Ahouba Leirak near Heirangoithong, Imphal West.
Joykishan suggested tightening of securities and with proper functioning of CCTV cameras installed on streets.
He appealed the government to strictly advise the security force to detain any person who drinks and driver to avoid road mishap.
He said hit and run cases are much frequent in Manipur. One of the reasons that the culprits tried to escape from the place of incidence could be due to the fear of mob lynching and mob violence that also occurred frequently in the state, he added.
