Arms and ammunitions recovered


Imphal: A combined team of New Keithelmanbi Police and a column of 29 Assam Rifles has recovered arms and ammunitions from Nungjai village on Tuesday.

The combined team was led by assistant sub-inspector, Seikholen Haokip and major Amritraj of 26 Assam Riffles.

Acting on specific input of presence of some cadres of proscribed underground organisation of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF-J) in general area of Nungjang village under the jurisdiction of New Keithelmanbi Police station at about 5.30 am, the combined team conducted a joint operation at the village.

During the operation the suspected ZUF-J cadres managed to escape from the place however the combined team recovered two lethod bombs, one 9mm pistol, one revolver, 7 live rounds of M-16 rifle and 11 live rounds of 9mm were recovered.

In connection with the incident an FIR has been registered at New Keithelmanbi Police station.
