Manipur CM announces Rs 10 lakh reward to police for recovering arms


Imphal: Chief minister N. Biren Singh has announced to reward a sum of Rs 10 lakh to the Manipur Police team which recovered huge catche of arms an amunitions from Huikap Awang Leikai on Sunday.

“I congratulate the Thoubal Police team led by SP Jogeschandra Haobijam on recovering huge cache of arms and arresting 3 individuals from Huikap Awang Leikai during an operation,” Biren writes on his Facebook wall.

The team involved in the operation will be rewarded a sum of Rs 10 lakhs along with commendation, he said.

One AK-81 —Rifle with three magazines, one AK-86 with three magazines, one M-16 A4-UBGL (40 mm Grenade Launcher) with one magazine, onef M-16 with one magazine, one RPG launcher, one RPG shell, 13 AK-56 with 13 magazine, 200 numbers of 7.62 x 39mm live rounds, 10 numbers of 5.56 mm live rounds were found inside a water tank.

A joint team of commando unit of Thoubal Police led by Sachidananda Soibam, additional superintendent of police(Ops) Thoubal and inspector N. Tikendra Meitei, officer-in-charge, commando unit Thoubal assisted by SI L. Dhanabir Singh, HC T. Jiten and HC Kh. Rambai Singh under the overall supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam, superintendent of police, Thoubal conducted the operation which led to arrest of three persons and arms recovery.
