Insurgents hideout busted


Imphal: Assam Rifles and Manipur Police busted a hideout of proscribed insurgent group ZUF (J) and recovered cache of arms and ammunition from Nungjang village, Kangpokpi district on Tuesday.

​Based on specific inputs regarding the presence of ZUF (J) cadres, troops of Assam Rifles Khoupum battalion along with Manipur Police under the aegis of IGAR (South) launched a search operation at Nungjang village. The cadres managed to escape the place before the arrival of security forces, the Assam Rifles said on Wednesday.

​On thorough search of the area, arms and ammunition were recovered. The haul included one .22 mm pistol, one 9 mm revolver, two M-79 grenades and 18 live rounds of different calibers.

​The recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to Keithalmanbi Police station for further legal action, the Assam Rifles said.
