No party will get absolute majority: Joy

Imphal: Veteran politician Okram Joy says no political party will get absolute majority in the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly Election.

Joy attended a one-day political convention held at Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai, Langthabal Assembly Constituency, Imphal West district on Sunday.

“How development can be brought in the Constituency where the MLA does not have any idea of parliamentary system,” Joy said.

People need to elect candidate who have proper knowledge of parliamentary system and who can raise issues on the floor of assembly whether the elected representative is in the ruling or opposition party, he added.

He said Langthabal Assembly Constituency is one of the assembly constituencies in the state which produces many patriots, famous writers and sports persons. In the Constituency political flag cannot help win in this election. People’s support is required to win, he added.

Politicians should not take personal gain by using the people as tools. Such politics should be rooted out from the state, Joy said.

Former candidate of Langthabal Assembly Constituency Mutum Dinesh Singh announced to support Joy in the forthcoming state election.
