Imphal: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is violating the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the BJP led coalition government, alleged Shiv Sena Manipur president M.Tombi said.
If necessary precautionary measures are failed to take in time, after 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election half of the population of the state will become Covid victim, Tombi said.
Tombi was speaking during a press conference here on Friday.
He said BJP should follow the Covid guidelines. Various functions are being organised at state BJP office violating the guidelines.
“The pandemic is not a festival and everyone should be aware that if proper precautionary measures are not taken in time large number of state population will become victim,” Tombi said.
In connection with the movement to repeal Armed Forces (Special Power) Act, 1957, he said, various incidents had occurred in the state, however, no north east states supported the movement in the past. He said various civil organisation of the state started reacting against the incident and to repeal AFSPA following the recent incident occurred at Mon district of Nagaland.
Chief minister of Nagaland and Meghalaya had boldly condemned the act and are pressing to repeal AFSPA. Likewise, chief minister N. Biren Singh who had also raised voice against AFSPA before should react boldly against AFSPA at present, he added.
The then Congress government in Manipur had taken initiatives to repeal AFSPA from seven Assembly segments of the state. The present government is not able to take further steps against AFSPA, Tombi said.
State Shiv Sena wants a government that can take necessary steps to completely repeal AFSPA from the state, he added.
