Two drug peddlers nabbed

Imphal: A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) on Friday nabbed two persons along with hHeroin powder from a location near Sugnu Bazar.

The two drug dealers were Lhingneichin Haokip, 35, wife of Thanjalet Haokip of Waithou village, Chandel district and Lelen Haokip, 40, son of late Athang Haokip of MB Jagnom village, Kakching district.

According to NAB they were arrested while conducting random frisking and checking near Sugnu bazzar at about 5.35pm on.

Thirty soap cases contaiinb Heroin powder weighig about 437 grams was recovered from the possession of Lelen.

It was revealed that the arrested persons are a part of an international smuggling chain. They also revealed that the drugs were handed over to them by a person in Myanmar, NAB said.

Some leads on linkage are established but the full particulars and addresses of the associates are yet to be established, it added.

A case has been registered at NAB police station. The arrested persons have been remanded to police custody for eight days till December 18.
