Imphal: Congress MLA Th. Joykisan suggested Election Commission of India (ECI) and Chief Electoral Office (CEO), Manipur to take necessary actions to ban election campaign and erection of political party flags till election notification is issued so as to bring a reformation for a good system of democracy.
Joykishan shared the suggestion during inauguration of a community hall of Lalambung Takhellambam Youth Development Organisation (LTYDO) in Imphal West on Wednesday.
ECI and CEO, Manipur need to take necessary steps in order to avoid political campaign which would lead to violence, the MLA said.
A good democratic system needs reformation. Monitoring of election expenditure after issuing election notification would be useless, instead of that ECI and CEO, Manipur must issue and order on banning of erection of political party flags, campaigning using political party flag and banner and others so that expenditure could be controlled, the representative of Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency said.
On the issue of political flags and banners various crimes have been increasing as Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, 2022 approaches, he said.
Intending candidate or social-workers can approach public individually. The present trends of using political party flags and others are becoming one of the reasons for inviting crimes among public, he added.
