Heroin worth over Rs 10 crore recovered

Imphal: Moreh battalion of Assam Rifles under the agies of IGAR (South) foiled cross border narcotics trafficking near Govajang village, Moreh, Tengnoupal district on Thursday.

During border domination patrol, troops of Assam Rifles noticed a suspicious bag hidden in bushes along a track near Govajang village which is leading to Indo Myanmar Border. On searching of the bag, 2.7 kg of suspected heroine in 220 soap cases were recovered. The recovered narcotics is assessed to be of worth Rs 10.7 crore, the Assam Rifles said on Friday.

The siezed narcotics were handed over to Moreh Police station for further legal action it added.
