Imphal: Janata Dal (United) will play a major role in Manipur government formation by winning at least 7 MLAs in the coming state Assembly election, national JD(U) president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh said on Saturday.
Rajiv said this during a one-day mega political Assembly held at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound, Imphal East.
The national president of JD(U), who is also a Lok Sabha MP, said at least 7 MLAs will be taking part while forming the next state government.
He said in Bihar with the coming of JD(U) government under Nitish Kumar development with justice has been continued in the state. With the government 50 per cent priority has been giving to the women of Bihar under the objectives of women empowerment. Bihar is the only state that the priority is given to the women starting from rural level to urban level, he added.
In Bihar various development including electrification, road connectivity, women empowerment and social harmony has been brought by the JD(U) government under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. Likewise similar development is needed in Manipur, Rajiv said.
Manipur government has been neglecting to witness the potentials of youths and sports as well as the potential of mineral and natural resources. If the potentials of Manipur are utilised cautiously Manipur will become a well-developed state and the unemployment issue will be reduced, he added.
He said the first priority of JD(U) will be promotion in sports sector which will be followed by promotion of farmers. If JD(U) becomes a part of the p government, within six months autonomous district council (ADC) election will be conducted so that political power could reach all.
JD(U) will press the state government to start utilising natural resources properly to reduce the unemployment issues in Manipur, he added.
He assured that Armed Forces (Special Power) Act will be repealed completely if his party takes part in the governance.
The national president was honoured with traditional Manipuri head gear by the state JD(U) president, Hangkhanpao Taithui.
Rajiv with JD(U) national general secretary and its in-charge North East, Afaque Ahamed Khan; national secretary, JD(U) and in-charge Manipur, Ramprit Mandal; and state president, Arunachal Pradesh, Ruhi Tarung hoisted the party flag at Hapta Kangjeibung.
