‘NE states was ATM machine during Congress led central government’


Imphal: The northeast states including Manipur was once known as ATM machine, however with the coming of BJP led central government Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has been giving priority to bring welfare and development for the north eastern states including Manipur, national BJP spokesperson cum in-charge Manipur, Sambit Patra said on Monday.

Patra was speaking during launching of “Eigi Emung BJP Gi Emung” campaign at Lairenhanjaba Leikai, Thangmeiband, Imphal West.

The programme was organised by BJP Thangmeiband mandal.

Sambit said during the tenure of the then Congress led central government, the central leaders came to visit the north eastern states including Manipur to take resources instead of providing welfare schemes, developments and others. During the then Congress government all the funds to be utilised on developments including road construction, drinking water and others for the welfare of the people, he added.

With the coming of Modi led government, the present central government is focusing to bring development with the motive that without developing north eastern states India cannot be called as a developed country, he said.

For the then Congress government, “family is the party” but BJP believes in “party is the family”, he added.

Sambit Patra started the campaign by erecting party flag and by pasting stickers to some of the residence located in the area.

Similar campaign was also conducted at Thangmeiband HIjam Dewan Leikai, Uripok Polem Leikai, Uripok Yambem Leikai, Sagolband Nepram Menjor Leirak, Sagolband Moirang Leirak and five other wards of Imphal Municipal Corporation.
