Imphal: Integrated traffic management system (ITMS) was launched at 15 different places of theb Imphal City on Thursday. On the next day some of the traffic signals were seen unfunctional and traffic police personnel were seen managing the traffic manually as before.
Commuters were seen violating the traffic signals in some places including Keishampat junction, Kangla Western gate. Traffic police personnel cautioned to follow the traffic rules.
ITMS was launched at Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani Karak junction; Sagolband Aryan Theatre Junction; LIC/PWD junction; Pishumthong Mayai Lambi junction; Keishamthong Mayai Lambi junction; Sangaiprou Regular Road junction; Kongba Soudongpung junction; Sangakpham junction; Keishampat junction; Singjamei Chingamakhong junction; GPO Babupara junction; Rajbhawan junction; Kwakeithel junction; Kangla Western Gate junction and North AOC junction.
The ITMS was launched in collaboration with Bharat Electronic Limited and traffic police.
Speaking on the launching occasion, superintendent of police, traffic, Ajitkumar Sharma said with the installation of ITMS traffic congestion in the city area could reduced if followed properly. He appealed the people to follow traffic rules as following the traffic rules not only reduced traffic congestion but also could avoid from road mishap.
After the launching of ITMS, traffic police personnel including, superintendent of police, traffic himself were seen giving awareness to the public to follow traffic signals.
