Security measures in Imphal ahead of Modi’s visit

Imphal: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in Manipur, state security measures have been beefed up in Manipur conducting cordon and search operation in Imphal city.

The Prime Minister is expected to visit the state in first week of January next year.

In view of the proposed visit of VVIP in the state Imphal West police commandoes conducted cordon and search operation at different areas of Imphal city on Tuesday.

A district commando team along with Lamphel police station led by deputy superintendent of police, commando Y. Kishorchand under the supervision of additional superintendent of police (Ops) conducted house to house search operation and verification of bailed outs at Langol Game Village Zone I and II and Housing complex area from 6 am to 7.50 am.

During the operation about 100 quarters were searched and about 150 individuals including four bailed out were verified. No individuals were picked up during the operation.

A separate commando personnel led by officer-in-charge, commando, Imphal West conducted similar operation at Sanmati area covering Aluminium gali, Kasturi and Pratap crossing area covering Masajid area, Kakhulong, Mahaveer pharmacy, Polo ground and Ibohal cycle area during 2.40 pm to 4 pm.

During the operation around 380 individuals were detained and verified. No one was picked up.
