“If the politicians love Manipur, they should stand unitedly against AFSPA in order to repeal it completely from the state,” she said.

The movement of Meira Paibi started during 1972-73 to protect against women violence and to fight against the anti-social drugs including alcohols. As a part of the movement Nishaband Meira Paibi was formed.

Many innocents including daily wage earners were killed and victimised by the security forces under AFSPA by blaming them as they are insurgents or related with insurgents. Incidents had occurred where the security forces raped innocent women, taking advantage of the Act.
