Biren government fails to listen public voice: Ibobi

Imphal: The era of dictatorial form of government ruled by king has ended and democratic form of government has already started, the present BJP led coalition government is giving priority on giving publicity instead of hearing the voice of public, Congress Legislative Party leader Okram Ibobi said on Thursday.

Ibobi, former chief minister was speaking at a block level political conference held at Takyel Kolom Leikai ground, Imphal West.

Whether a king is bad or good, he has to rule with dictatorial form of government. In democracy the people’s representatives governs listening to the voice of people, he said.

During the then Congress government in the state, being a chief minister of the then government, he said, he was very cautious on giving any assurance at public platform.

Ibobi said he feared that if he would be able to fulfil the assurance or not during the Congress regime, but the present government do not have any fear to give assurance on public platform and gives assurance just to get public applause.

Congress party feels shy to get party’s political mileage by shouting the contributions and achievements made by the party. The achievement of a government is to be heard from public, he added.

Ibobi said, “In the coming Manipur Legislative Assembly election, 2022 people is going to see a political change with a Congress government or a Congress led coalition government.”

Congress Working Committee member, Gaikhangam said the present government is governing as ‘Contractor Raj’ and ‘Supply Raj’. People need be cautious as it is a crucial period for the state and there is a fear that the Manipur history may be changed with the influence of the BJP government, he added.

It is unfortunate that BJP government is trying to change history and are trying to get fame against the developments and the developmental works brought by the then Congress government, he added.
