‘Manipur railway project will be completed by 2023 end’

Imphal: Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw along with Manipur chief minister N. Biren has flagged off the extension of Silchar-Jiribam passenger train upto Vangaichungpao through video conference at the chief minister’s cabinet hall on Wednesday.
Ashwini told reporters here that the railway project of Manipur from Jiribam to Imphal will be completed by the end of next year and it will bring good impact to state’s economy, tourism, culture and others.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi parallel effort to complete the project will be given. By the end of March railway service will be started from Jiribam to Vangaichungpao.To give good connectivity in telecommunication the state will be receiving a good bandwidth internet service upto a speed of 10 Gbps, he said.
He assured that passenger train service from Agartala to Jiribam will be started within a week. He said a final location survey for Imphal- Moreh railway connectivity will be started within four weeks and he will take the approval from the Prime Minister for a ring railway line to be constructed around the valley areas connecting the foothills of the state, he added.
