AR thwarts sabotage attempt by insurgents

Imphal: SajikTampak battalion of Assam Rifles (AR) under the ageis of IGAR (S) foiled a sabotage attempt by the insurgents to stage a deadly attack by detecting and destroying an improvised explosive device (IED) in Chapkikarong sub-division, Chandel district on Thursday.

During a routine patrolling, AR troops observed some suspicious wires protruding out of the ground at a road junction leading towards Border Pillars 50. This road is used extensively by civilians to ply their vehicles for farming.

On immediate search the troops detected an IED. After sanitisation of the area, the detected IED was destroyed on the spot itself for ensuring security in the region and prevention of any loss to life or property, the AR said.
