One drug dealer arrested with Heroin, WY

Imphal: Kakching Police of Manipur on Monday nabbed one drug trafficker from Sugnu Khongnang Makhong and recovered Heroin powder and WY tablets from his possession.

The arrested person was identified as Thangminlal Baite, 28, son of Jangkhoiun Baite of Moreh Ward No. 1, Tengnoupal district.

He was travelling in one Eeco-Van (navy blue in colour) bearing registration No. MNO1G-2714 which was coming from Sugnu Khambathel road and proceedinv, towards Sugnu Khongnang Makhong side.

A team of Kakching Police that was conducting frisking and checking at Sugnu Khongnang Makhong in connection with the upcoming 12th General Assembly Election, 2022 and to curb the movement of anti-social elements and transportation of illegal items. It noticed the van and was was given a signal to stop for checking. It tried to escape from the checking point on seeing the commando personnel by speeding his vehicle.

The police team managed to stop the van at Sugnu Khongnang Makhong, and detained the driver. On the spot, the driver was interrogated and identified himself as Thangminlal Baite.

When the vehicle was searched 16 soap cases (nine soap case green in colour, and seven in blue colour) were detected. They were suspected to be Heroin No.4 powder. The team also detected two packets suspected to be WY tablets which were kept concealed in the doors of the vehicle.

On weighing the seized items suspected to be Heroin No.4 powder by using a weighing machine, it was found to he approximately 191 grams (in total) and the suspected WY tablets weighed 2.159 kg. On body search, one Redmi Y3 mobile phone was recovered from his possession.

The arrested person along with the seized articles were handed over to OC-Sugnu Police station for taking further necessary legal action, superintendent of police, Kakching, Shrey Vats said on Tuesday.
