Imphal: Organising reception programme by state BJP for more than 3-4 intending candidate in a Constituency that already has a BJP MLA should be avoided, convenor of Manipur Democratic Alliance M. Tombi, who is also state president of Shiv Sena, said on.
Tombi was addressing in a press conference held at its office here on Tuesday.
He said in most of the Assembly constituencies of the state more than 3-4 intending candidates are seeking BJP ticket for the upcoming Manipur assembly election. However, state BJP organised reception programme for each and every intending candidate even for the Assembly Constituency that already had BJP sitting MLA. In some Assembly constituencies the intending candidates may support each other after the announcement of party tickets. However, it could be one of the main reason for inviting poll violence, Tombi said.
Any social worker or a politician can serve the society without participating in the election but some of them are taking election as a business and it should be avoided, he added.
MDA and state Shiv Sena strongly condemned the Samurou pre-poll violence incident where two persons were killed by unknown miscreants. The culprits or the mastermind behind such incident should be given death sentence publicly in a public ground in order to avoid similar incident in the near future, Tombi said.
MDA and State Shiv Sena appealed to stop encouraging gun culture, using of muscle and money power in relation with election as it could only lead to unwanted incident.
Tombi said MDA and state Shiv Sena appealed the authority to provide schedule tribe status or hill area status to the entire areas of the state. If the people are given equal status irrespective of hills and valley then complaints like Amra Bangali rose at Supreme Court could be easily defend.
Shiv Sena fully supports the movement of schedule tribe demand committee, he added.
