Imphal: Six new Omicron variant cases of SARS-CoV-2 have been detected in Manipur and the total number of Omicron variant cases in the state was seven as reported by state health department on Friday.
All have completed their mandatory isolation period and have been discharged with RT-PCR negative reports. Tracing of close contacts and containment measures are already in place. Cross notifications have been sent, health services director K. Rajo said.
Of the new six Omicron cases, one is a female returnee from a foreign country and another male is a visitor to the state. The rest are close contacts. The visitor has already left the state, Manipur Covid-19 common control room said.
Rajo advised the general public to strictly follow Covid Appropiate Behaviours and get vaccinated for Covid-19. “Please be alert and do not panic,” he added.
With 116 new positive cases confirmed on Friday the number of active cases has reached 944. No Covid-19 related death was reported. The cumulative number of deaths remained at 2012.
The positivity rate was 7.1 percent. The fresh cases belonged to CAPF (4) Imphal East (22), Imphal West (40), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (4), Kangpokpi (3), Tengnoupal (6), Ukhrul (1), Chandel (2) and Churachandpur (28).
All necessary medical precaution, measures like containment and contact tracing arc in place, the control room said.
Twenty-nine positive cases were recovered. The cumulative number of positive cases was 1,26,821 and the recovery rate was 97.67 percent.
On Thursday 7112 vaccine doses were administered. The cumulative doses was 2377616 (1st dose of 1356905, 2nd dose of 1016486 and precautionary dose of 4225).
